Perfect

Best software to synchronize the timestamps of different cameras! Preview function helps a lot!

In the full screen mode, I selected few photos to move to the very front. Dragged them to the far left edge only to see my screen role to the left with the files in the select mode as if I want to add them to the desk top. Basically, the full screen of the app will roll off to the right and youll be holding on to the photos you selected and the desktop space wondering what just happend. Also, the drag and drop does not work properly either. It just spreads the photos out randomly. This tool is full of bugs. I really want my refund!

I tried this and it simply doesnt do what it says. First gave me error. Then the date changed in some fields but not the necessary ones. Now - cant even get in to manage the dates. Terrible. Do not purchase. I want my $6 back!

Needed something to get my wedding photos from various cameras in order. Worked like a charm. Controls take a while to figure out, but support is great. Very responsive and had everything explained and figured quickly. Thanks.

This is a really useful utility! Had to re-date over 1000 pics and videos because I was in a time zone halfway around the world the clock on my iPhone was still on EST. This app fixed everything, syncing with other pics that were taken with two other cameras that were correctly set.

This made a (needlessly) complex task easy

I was amazed at how hard it is to adjust the EXIF data in a RAW file. Shootshifter made it easy and fast. Well worth the $6.

This app was invaluable for a massive iPhoto export project. iPhoto’s wonky export options leave the EXIF date information out of the files, and with this program, I was able to write them back in. After hours of searching I found what I needed, and I’m so glad I did. Worth it!

This great application just got even better. I have been using previous versions of this app for over a year with great results. I could easily transform (redate) batches of photos using it. But where I found it most useful, was in getting a bunch of photos from various devices (that were not time or date synchronised), into the correct cronological order. This app made that process an absolute breeze. The UI is logical and intuitive. Until this version, the only downside was that I needed to use a couple of seperate applications to rename my files, amongst others. I decided to contact the developer and suggested some updates for the next version. Not only was the developer’s response prompt, but also genuinely interested in including my suggestions to help improve the application. We traded a few emails on the subject and now with this version I no longer require those separate applications. I can perform all the tasks within this single application. GREAT APP with AMAZING SUPPORT Definitely worth every cent and more…..

I had an issue where the Date Created and the EXIF Date Digitized how gone oout of synch. I wanted to use Hazel to categorize 30,000+ photos into date driven subfolders based on the Date Created field. I needed to copy Date Digitized into Date Created. ShootShifter did it and then renamed the photos to boot. Great app, saved me so much time and fantastic suport. I had a question and the dev got back to me in 45 mins. Thank you!

Works wonders! Two wedding shooters with multiple cameras - their clocks set different - this program made it possible to get the images back in exact sequence. It works with RAW! You can’t imagine how much time this saved me. Thanks much for a great app.

This tool is amazing. The developer clearly knew what he and we needed and made this task of merging photos from different cameras easy. I really feel I know what is going to happen to all my different timestamps. No black magic that leaves me wondering which timestamps get updated and which don’t. This beats the big and expensive professional photo applications from Adobe and the like in this regard! This is my new workflow going forward.

Fixes Dates

I've struggled with manually organzing my photos taken on my phone. When copied over (imported, airdrop, whatever) the 'create' date changes to the current date. Which makes sense from a system POV. But, from an organizaition POV it's tricky. This allows me to name the file with the original create date in the filename itself. Makes manually organizing super easy now. Yay!

Just what I needed!

I am scanning a couple thousand family photos and want the file date to be the date taken, just like when you shoot with a digital camera. I spent hours looking at other apps that were all more cumbersome to use, and some even messed with the photo resolution when I applied the change. Shootshifter just changes the file date & time - just what I want! The only negative is that when you edit the date, it pops the photo to that date in the timeline, so to set the date on the next photo, you have to scroll to find the next unchanged photo. It'd be cool to have a setting to temporarily stop the timeline from sorting.

Good for 1970 file date changes

Pretty good app for changing file creation dates provided you are not trying to change a file creation date to something earlier than 1970. I have photos I scanned into my system. The shoot date was in the 1940's. I wasn't able to change those creation of modification dates. Appears linux is limited to 1/1/1970 dates.

Simple yet perfect

When you export from lightroom or other software it screws up the dates. This software easily fixes it. Great work. Thanks

saves my time!

I can use Terminal with ‘touch -t’ to change the time of my photo and video files, but what a waste of my time that is! For multiple files it would be tedious in the extreme. Shootshifter has a drag-and-drop timeline interface so I can easily sync up the times of different camera files. One great value is for video clips. When I have edited a video clip by trimming it in QuickTime, the saved file time is set to the time it was edited. So I need to put the file time back to the original. Shootshifter makes it easy to do - far easier than the editing! Sometimes (about once a year), Shootshifter stops working. After trying various approaches (e.g., restarting it), I ALWAYS find that it is cured by rebooting macOS. Apparently macOS has glitches in the file system state that affect the application. :( This is NOT the fault of the application. I use Shootshifter several times a month, and it saves time for me. I recommend it.

You need this software

I have been using Shootshifter since version 2 something, and I love it. The old version was so good, that I wanted to pay for it, but there was no way to do so at the time! Even though I was very satisfied with it, for some reason, I decided to check if there was a newer version, and lo and behold, there was a greatly improved one that even works with video files! A no-brainer - I had to upgrade. This software will save you so much time you will be so happy you got it. I recommend taking a photo of a watch face with a second hand with each camera you use so that you can easily sync all your photos to the times shown on the watch.

Just WOW!

I am FINALLY after years of trying and failing, getting my tens of thoudanfs of pictures in some sense of order! Over the years, THOUSANDS of pcitures have become ‘corrupted’ with dates being at times up to 40 years off. Other apps would allow me to chnage the NAMES of the pictures but would NOT allow me to alter the embedded dates. This app does allow me to alter the dates. The developer really knew what he was doing when writing this and I know I am in way over my head right now in what I actually comprehend, lol. Cannot wait to play around with this more and se what else it can do!

Over 15000 photos date corrected in minutes!!!!

This application is absolutely fantastic! I had over 15000 photos that had the wrong file "date created" assigned when imported into my Mac from an old PC. For this project, I used the app to change the incorrect "date created" to match actual photo taken date from the EXIF data embedded in each file. I don’t know how I could have done this easily without using this app. Not only was I able to get the “date created” corrected, but I also used the option to automatically add the date created as the start of a new file name for each photo. Now if I ever run into an issue in the future, the "date created" is permanently part of the file name and will never be lost again. I then had 125 photos with some special issues, and I was able to get a solution by contacting support. The response was quick, and totally solved the issues for these as well. While I have just started to explore some of the other features of this app, it looks like it will also solve several other issues for me in managing a large number of photos from multiple cameras with different file name formats. Well worth the price! Huge Time Saver - Solved the Unsolvable! - Great Vendor Support

Does its job very well.

I looked at several programs that could adjust the time&date values in the EXIF-data. I am very happy with this program, it doesnt let yo change any other EXIF date, but is very comfortable and fast in changing dates&times. It even adjusts the date if the new time falls into another day, e.g. when changing times by several hours to adjust for a wrong time zone. Can recommend this very much.
